iN MY OPINION THEY SHOULD NOT BE PAID
Paying a college athlete would go against tradition and the purpose of college sports. They have professional sports for a reason. If your going to college your first priority is being a student. They have an average GPA of 2.0. for a reason. They are STUDENT-ATHLETES not just athletes. Giving a freshman money would more than likely be spent on stupid things. They could even use that money for drugs and harmful products. The colleges bring in tons of revenue... but that revenue should be used to better the schools and keep that money in the program. Why is it fair to pay an athlete now then an athlete who worked just as hard in previous years. Distributing the compensation would not be fair too due, to the differences in revenue from school to school. The big time athletes now a days are one-and-done so they are destroying collegiate sports. They can't want money then a year later make millions in professional sport. The big time schools bring in more money then the smaller ones. Paying the athletes can could cause uprisings in schools since the regular college student has to pay to go there; while the athlete gets college completely paid for and they are getting paid on top of that. Coaches make a lot but that is their JOB. Being a student-athlete is a way to getting a job it is not a job itself. The athletes do put in a ton of time and it is hard for them to get a job too; but they really don't need a job with the benefits they receive. A ton of High School Basketball players who are good enough to be one and done players are now choosing to head over seas and play their for a year. That option has always been open for those who want cash fast.

Every college athlete has advantages and disadvantages.; but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Every college students life is hard. Whether it is studying, working, or in athletes cases; practice. The athletes though have more benefits then the typical student. Division 1 athletes are well known and receive many things. The locker rooms of the well known colleges has a surplus of food, drinks, and amazing facilities. If a college athlete says they are hungry well maybe they should look at the typical student. Some college students have a thing of Ramen Noodles and say that's a satisfying meal. The protein shakes, Gatorade, trainers, protein bars, and much more make the college athletes life sound amazing.

Scholarships are more than enough
The scholarships these athletes receive is a gift compared to many students attending the University. A full-ride to play a sport is an amazing accomplishment but honestly an incredible gift. "According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2016–2017 school year was$33,480 at private colleges, $9,650 for state residents at public colleges, and$24,930 for out-of-state residents attending public universities". So not paying any of that sounds amazing and seems like there shouldn't be any reason for a complaint. To see more information click here
